The Royal Danish Consulate General in Dubai is currently looking for a maternity cover Commercial Advisor in the field of aviation, oil & gas and investments to join the team from 15th of January, 2018 to 1st of July, 2018. The position is to be filled by a locally recruited employee.
The main mandates of Consulate General are to promote Danish commercial interest in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and to handle VISA/consular matters of relevance for Denmark. The commercial work is handled by the trade department (TC Dubai), which also holds commercial responsibility for Qatar and Iraq.
TC Dubai is part of a regional set-up working closely with Danish Missions in Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon and Iran. TC Dubai assists Danish companies in a variety of activities ranging from developing market analysis and market entry strategies, to first line of sales, executing partner and customer searches, engaging in PR-actives and recruitment, etc.

Being based at the Consulate General in Umm Suqeim, Dubai, you will be part of a daily team of around 20 engaged colleagues including the consular and finance sections. Moreover, the Consulate General works closely with the Embassy of Denmark in Abu Dhabi and you will see a number of assignments being carried out in close cooperation with the Embassy and the Ambassador of Denmark to the UAE. 

The position
The current advisors are responsible for a variety of sectors such as health care, food, design, aviation, green tech, ICT etc. Your role is to be part of the Industry team, which currently consists of two Commercial Advisors and a Junior Commercial Advisor.

As Commercial Advisor you will
• Be working closely with the other team members on tasks related to e.g. aviation, oil & gas, investments, defence, services, heavy industries, governance and security
• To a large degree be expected to work independently and develop the TC Dubai capacity within the above areas
• Be a key figure in developing stronger government contact (market access and public affairs work)
• Be responsible for identifying and establishing business-to-business contacts
• Gathering, analysing and presenting information about market opportunities
• Preparing market/partner reports
• Organizing events and delegations 
• Planning and setting up company visits

Job requirements
To be considered for the maternity cover as Commercial Advisor you need to meet the following requirements:

• A strong understanding of the UAE and/or Danish industry landscape
• Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience
• Relevant educational background (M.Sc./MBA preferably).
• Analytical mind-set and ability to think creatively and take a proactive role in achieving work goals and objectives
• First of all be a team player, but with significant ability to also work independently, often under time pressure
• Excellent communication skills including fluency in English (verbal and written)
• Speaking Arabic is not a must, but will be considered a strong asset
• Prepared to travel regularly to Denmark and on special occasions to other MENA countries to meet with companies and other relevant key contacts
• Flair for IT, analytical tools and CRM systems
