Great support for Danish sports project

In Denmark, many children grow up spending most of their spare time in sports clubs. Therefore, Ebbe Sand wanted to expand the idea of club cultures when he moved to Dubai. As a result, he put together the idea of the Green Sports Hub.

The idea behind the sports complex started in 2015 with the hopes of creating a football academy. The challenge was to find partners and soil for the idea. With the help from the Danish Trade Council in Dubai, the strategy was quickly changed to find partners who would help build an academy based on sustainable solutions. The result was a cooperation with Jumeirah Golf estates to build a one-of-a-kind sports complex.

The sports complex will be 50,000 sqm including a multi-sport hall, a restaurant, shops, a hotel and much more. It will be possible to practise football, tennis, swimming, basketball, volleyball, handball, and badminton.

The project is now 60% funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the national authority Dubai Sports Council, Lars Larsen merchant of the Danish company Jysk, and Jan Bech Andersen stakeholder of the Danish football club Brøndby.

Since Dubai is hosting the EXPO2020 in two years’ time and Ebbe Sand hopes to have the Sports Complex ready by then.
