Digital Sales Advisor to the Danish Trade Council in Dubai

The Trade Council of Denmark in Dubai (TC Dubai) is looking for an ambitious Advisor focusing on Danish businesses’ Digital Sales activities in MENA but with focus on the UAE. The Danish government’s strategy for Digital Growth 2018-2025 aims to increase the competitiveness and profitability of Danish companies by assisting them in the transition to online sales. The position is part of a united Digital Sales/E-commerce effort from The Trade Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark’s export promotion arm, where you will be part of not only your local team in Dubai but also a global team of Digital Sales/E-commerce advisors in 15 locations around the world.

Your main responsibility as an Advisor will be to advise Danish companies about digital business models & online sales opportunities (with a special focus on SMEs and B2B and B2G) in the UAE market on a consultancy basis. Furthermore, you will also get the opportunity to work on business development projects in collaboration with our sector advisors. Some of your work will also include creating strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders.

Digital Sales is an important priority for Denmark, and we want to leverage your experience and existing network in this field.

TC Dubai is mandated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark to promote Danish commercial interests in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar. Most of the demand in TC Dubai focuses on the UAE but we work closely with trade colleagues in Danish embassies in Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, KSA, and Iran. The advisor team in TC MENA are all part of a variety of regional sector teams such as Tech, Health, Energy, Water & Environment, Food & Agribusiness, and Aviation.

THE POSITION

Your main tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Helping Danish businesses to assess markets in the UAE, Qatar, and assist them in developing effective entry strategies with a main focus on Digital Sales channels and Partnerships.
  • Develop partnership agreements between Danish exporters, B2B and B2G E-commerce marketplaces and local stakeholders in the UAE (e.g. resellers, retail groups, distributors and other agencies).
  • Efficiently manage a constantly changing workload covering a large number of clients, within internally and externally driven timeframes.
  • Contribute to knowledge creation within TC MENA and The Trade Council globally, by sharing information and embracing best practice.
  • Maintain and build on existing networks of government, industry and company contacts in the UAE, Qatar and other countries in MENA.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:

  • Experience with strategic Digital Sales/E-commerce in the UAE either from an in-house E-commerce team or an agency
  • Solid network with, and understanding of, e-business in the UAE
  • Documented experience with fulfilling commercial KPIs consistently
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience from GCC in client facing roles
  • Proven experience from working with both governmental stakeholders and the private sector
  • A Master’s degree in business administration and/or other commercially oriented graduate degree
  • Ability to forge tight relations and trust in regards to sales and consultancy tasks
  • Understanding of public sector procurement dynamics in the UAE
  • Analytical mind-set and ability to think creatively and take a proactive role in achieving work goals and objectives
  • Excellent communication skills, including fluency in English. Arabic and Urdu/Hindi would be an asset
  • Travel should be expected to Denmark and other countries in GCC/MENA
  • You are proactive, resourceful and a strong outgoing networker. You are always willing to lend an extra hand to colleagues and put an extra effort to ensure a project’s success

You will be based in Dubai at the Royal Danish Consulate General and report to the Commercial Head of Tech MENA. You will work closely with the commercial team in the UAE, MENA and your global Digital Sales Advisory team. You will be employed on a 2-year contract with the possibility of extension.
